Visit Finca Solmark
Come and experience one of the most beautiful valleys in southern Spain, with miles of views from our terrace. I offer coffee and snacks and organise tasting of olive oil and our various honeys.
You will hear the story of the organic farm, how I work to give life to both the village and lots of animals and much more.
The farm tour then gives you the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about irrigation systems, the history of the area, tropical fruits, etc.
There is almost always some kind of fruit in season and we make sure we have samples straight from the tree.
On the farm there are more than 200 different types of trees, many of them fruit trees.
Sustainability and diversity at Finca Solmark
How much does the visit cost?
Parking for motorhomes
If you are coming with a motorhome, you can now park in our “Triangle parking”, which is at the first gate on the right. Here you will be safe, with good fences and surveillance cameras and, of course, in a very picturesque area, just a quarter of an hour from the Caminito del Rey, or half an hour from Ronda, Antequera or just under an hour to the coast.
You get a code for the gate that is activated for the duration of your parking and you can come and go as you please during this time. If you need to wash, shower or have access to light, we’ll take care of that for you. Of course, you can refill water (however, we can’t take care of grey water).
ATTENTION! Very long (9-12 metres) and low mobile homes have difficulties climbing a hill just before the property, so we do not recommend visiting us with this type of vehicle.
Parking at the property costs €20/day and can be booked at the cash desk (of course, at the same time as booking a parking space for the mobile home you can also book a visit with a walking tour etc.).
More places to visit in the neighbourhood
There are a number of exciting places to visit in the neighbourhood of FincaSolmark:
Carratraca, the village where the finca is located has a wide variety of interesting things to see.
Don’t miss the old bullring, the town hall (the yellow house visible from the finca), La Hermita, which is on the path above the village, the church, the fountain next to the Martillo restaurant and, of course, the spa.
If you want to eat in the village you can do so at Casa Pepa and Martillo. Both are closed on Mondays and offer typical Spanish food on other days. The village also has a couple of small service shops in the central square, as well as a number of bars and cafes – Paco Pi, Benavides and others. There is also a pharmacy.
If you want to rent a room in the village, Carratracarural.com – Daniel Paz is a good friend who has rented rooms to many of our visitors. Also larger houses for rent, such as Finca El Albero.
As an excursion from the village, I can recommend the old country road to Álora. It winds its way up the mountainside and, although it lacks some maintenance, it is a beautiful road to cycle or drive along for about 15 km. Take a look at the beautiful tunnels made where the water flows down the mountainside – each tunnel is completely unique in shape, design and size.
La Cueva de Ardales, one of the most exciting and unique caves in the world, is located in the neighbouring village and is physically situated under Carratraca. Visits are booked at the tourist office in Ardales and a limited number of visitors are allowed in each day.
La Vía Verde de la Sierra, it winds its way from Puerto Serrano in the mountains of Cadiz and through Coripe to Olvera for about 35 km. Magically pleasant for cycling or walking. In Olvera you can stay with Swedish hosts at Olive Tree Bed & Breakfast. Nearby is the exciting archaeological site of Acinipo (Roman settlement).
El Asador Don Joaquín, the best restaurant in the area, is located less than 15 minutes from the finca, on the road between the A-357 and Álora, passing Pizarra. It opened in 1995 and has a very complete menu of food and drink. It is closed on Wednesdays.
El Caminito del Rey, in the neighbouring village of Ardales is southern Spain’s most visited and spectacular excursion destination. Located just 15 minutes from FincaSolmark.
El Chorro is the natural area near Caminito del Rey. Plenty of water activities such as kayaking, pedal boats, swimming etc. Located 15 minutes from the finca.
El Torcal in Antequera is an impressive rock formation that is Unesco protected and is 30 minutes from the finca.
Ronda is the magically beautiful town with fantastic food, numerous wineries to visit and incredible views. Located 30 minutes from finca.
Fuente de Piedra is home to the largest flamingo lake in southern Europe. Walk, cycle or stroll around the shallow lake and spot lots of birds. Located 30 minutes from Finca.
How to get to Finca Solmark
The same if you are looking for accommodation near the farm, there are several options and I can also give you some advice about them.
Unfortunately, I do not have the possibility to stay overnight on the farm.
